FAQ’s

WHAT IS YOUR DESIGN STYLE ?

My “style” is my “method”. I’m modern and timeless in my approach and consideration. I blend and mix materials, colours, finishes, form and function to ensure the finished work is a natural fit for you and the shared vision we’ve created.

I’VE NEVER WORKED WITH A DESIGN PROFESSIONAL, HOW DOES IT WORK?

Generally two ways. There’s the one time consultation which leaves you with a guide from us to take you where you want to go. The other choice is full service which sees us fully manage your entire project. Do it yourself or let us do it for you - We are happy to discuss your needs with you in order to determine which service suits you best.

WHY DO I NEED A PROFESSIONAL DESIGNER?

It’s a design professional’s job to translate your needs into a design that works on all levels. Once the direction is decided there are several administrative and project management tasks that are most fluidly accomplished by a professional with experience, expertise and knowledge.

The sooner the better. It’s much easier to plan and forecast a project then undo mistakes and misdirections. It’s also much less expensive in the long run.

WHEN DO I BRING A DESIGNER IN?

If you already have an architect and contractor then you have ⅔ of the team together. What’s missing in this team is the designer. A designer “big pictures” the entire project to ensure your living and aesthetic requirements are met within the overall plan and vision. An architect ensures structural needs and codes are met and the contractor executes the plans and manages trades. The glue and heart of your project lies with your advocate in the process, your designer.

I HAVE AN ARCHITECT AND/ OR CONTRACTOr. WHY DO I NEED A DESIGNER?

No, however, working with our trades allows us to pass along preferred pricing & scheduling. We can certainly work with your Contractor and Trades and will refine our fees & scope accordingly.

DO I HAVE TO WORK WITH YOUR TRADES?

One of the many benefits of working with a designer is access to preferred pricing for elements of a project. We pass along savings in all purchasing we manage for our clients. We do not , however, “lend” our discounts to clients to purchase on their own.

DO YOU SHARE TRADE DISCOUNTS?

Curate as much imagery as you can that shares the feeling, look, emotion of what you’re looking for. We’ll have a shared Pintrest board which will serve as our starting point to also discuss timing, scope and expectations in this first meeting as well.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR OUR FIRST MEETING?

We manage the implementation of the design to ensure the accuracy of the installation and what we have designed and sourced. However, the General Contractor will manage the daily schedule and activities of the trades. We are not general contractors, we work side by side with the GC as a team.

DO YOU MANAGE the CONSTRUCTION PORTION OF THE PROJECT?

  • Be as open and honest with us as you can be.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

  • Expect something may go wrong and expect us to correct and carry on.

  • Get excited.

  • Let us take care of you.
